MaintenanceIn accordance with current safetyregulations, for all work on your vehicle'sseat belts, contact a qualified workshop withthe skills and equipment needed, which aPEUGEOT dealer is able to provide.Have the seat belts checked regularly by aPEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop,particularly if the straps show signs ofdamage.Clean the seat belt straps with soapy water ora textile cleaning product, sold by PEUGEOTdealers.AirbagsThis system is designed to improve the safetyof the occupants of the front seats and the rearouter seats in the event of a violent collision. Theairbags supplement the action of the seat beltsequipped with a force limiting system.Electronic detectors record and analyse thefront and side impacts sustained in the impactdetection zones:–In the event of violent impact, the airbagsdeploy instantly and help better protect theoccupants of the vehicle; immediately after theimpact, the airbags deflate rapidly in order notto hinder the visibility or the possible exit of theoccupants.–In the event of a slight impact, a rear impactand under certain rollover conditions, the airbagsmay not deploy; only the seat belt helps toprotect you in these situations.The seriousness of the impact depends on thenature of the obstacle and the speed of thevehicle at the moment of collision.The airbags do not operate when theignition is switched off.This equipment will only deploy once. limiting the risk of injury to the chest, betweenthe hip and the shoulder.Each lateral airbag is fitted in the seat backrestframe, on the door side.DeploymentThe lateral airbags are deployed on one side inthe event of a serious side impact applied to allor part of the side impact zone B.The lateral airbag inflates between the chest ofthe vehicle's occupant and the correspondingdoor panel.Curtain airbagsThis system helps provide greater protection forthe driver and passengers (with the exceptionof the rear centre passenger) in the event of aserious side impact, in order to limit the risk ofinjury to the side of the head.Each curtain airbag is built into the pillars andthe upper passenger compartment area.DeploymentIt deploys simultaneously with the correspondinglateral airbag in the event of a serious sideimpact applied to all or part of the side impactzone B.The curtain airbag inflates between thefront and rear occupants of the vehicle and thecorresponding windows.MalfunctionIn the event of a malfunc-tion, these warning lampslight up on the instrumentpanel.Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualifiedworkshop to have the system checked.The airbags may not be deployed in the event ofa serious impact.In the event of a minor impact or bump atthe side of the vehicle or if the vehicle rollsover, the airbags may not be deployed.In the event of a rear or front collision, noneof the lateral airbags are deployed.AdviceFor the airbags to be fully effective,observe the safety recommendationsbelow.Adopt a normal and upright sitting position.Fasten your seat belt and position it correctly.Do not place anything between the occupantsand the airbags (e.g. child, animal, object), donot fix or attach anything near or in the pathof the airbags, as this could cause injurieswhen they are deployed.Never modify the original definition of thevehicle, particularly in the area directly aroundthe airbags.Even if all of the precautions mentionedare observed, a risk of injury or of minorburns to the head, chest or arms cannot beruled out when an airbag is deployed. Thebag inflates almost instantly (within a fewmilliseconds) then deflates within the sametime, discharging the hot gas via openingsprovided for this purpose.After an accident or if the vehicle has beenstolen, have the airbag systems checked.All work must be carried out only by aPEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.Safety94
Front airbagsDo not drive holding the steering wheel byits spokes or resting your hands on the centrepart of the wheel.Passengers must not place their feet on thedashboard.Do not smoke as deployment of the airbagscan cause burns or the risk of injury from acigarette or pipe.Never remove or pierce the steering wheel orhit it violently.Do not fix or attach anything to the steeringwheel or dashboard, as this could causeinjuries when the airbags are deployed.Lateral airbagsUse only approved seat covers compatiblewith the deployment of these airbags. Forinformation on the range of seat coverssuitable for your vehicle, contact a PEUGEOTdealer.Do not fix or attach anything to the seatbackrests (e.g. clothing) as this could causeinjuries to the chest or arm when the airbag isdeployed.Do not sit with the upper part of the body anynearer to the door than necessary.The vehicle's front door panels include sideimpact sensors.A damaged door or any unauthorised orincorrectly executed work (modification orrepair) on the front doors or their interiortrim could compromise the operation of thesesensors - risk of malfunction of the lateralairbags! All work must be carried out only bya PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.Curtain airbagsDo not fix or attach anything to the roof,as this could cause head injuries when thecurtain airbag is deployed.Do not remove the grab handles installed onthe roof.Child seatsThe regulations on carrying children arespecific to each country. Refer to thelegislation in force in your country.For maximum safety, please observe thefollowing recommendations:– In accordance with European regulations,all children under the age of 12 years oldor less than 1.5 metres tall must travel inapproved child seats suited to their sizeor weight, on seats fitted with a seat belt orISOFIX mountings.– Statistically, the safest seats in your vehiclefor carrying children are the rear seats.– Children ageing less than 15 monthsmust travel in the "rearward facing"position, whether in the front or rear of thevehicle.It is recommended that children travel onthe rear seats of the vehicle:– "rearward facing" up to the age of 3 yearsold.– "forward facing" over the age of 3 yearsold.Make sure that the seat belt is correctlypositioned and tightened.For child seats with a support leg, ensure thatthe support leg is in firm and steady contactwith the floor.Safety955
