In a multilingual country, servicescan be configured to use the official nationallanguage of your choice. For technical reasons and in particular toimprove the quality of telematics servicesprovided to customers, the Manufacturerreserves the right to carry out updates to thevehicle's on-board telematics system at anytime.During an update to the vehicle's on-boardtelematics system, the ASSISTANCEsystem will be unavailable. If you benefit from the Peugeot ConnectPacks offer with the SOS and AssistancePack included, there are additional servicesavailable to you in your personal space, viathe website for your country. For information about the SOS andAssistance Pack, please refer to the generalconditions for these services.Event Data Recordingsystem(Depending on country of sale)This vehicle is fitted with an accident datarecording system, also called Event DataRecorder (EDR).This system gathers and records certain vehicledata over a short period (a few seconds) before, during and after an event such as an accident orcollision. In order to gain a better understanding ofthe circumstances surrounding the event, thissystem records how the vehicle’s varioussystems are operating at the time of the event, including:– Any deployment of a restraint system (e.g.airbag, seat belt).– The status of the seat belts of all theoccupants (fastened/unfastened).– The contact or intensity of pressure exerted onthe pedal(s) engaged by the driver.– The speed of the vehicle.– The status of some driving and manoeuvringaids systems. The following are not recorded by the system:– Data on normal driving conditions, in otherwords data not directly related to the event.– Personal data on the driver and any otheroccupants.– The geographical location of the vehicle at thetime of the event. The reading of data recorded by the systemrequires the following:– Access to the interior of the vehicle or to thesystem. And– Special equipment that can be purchased fromthe manufacturer BOSCH (www.BoschCDRTool.com).Aside from the vehicle Manufacturer, otherparties such as law enforcement agencies mayaccess this data in order to analyse the event.Electronic stability control(ESC)The electronic stability control programmeincludes the following systems:– Anti-lock braking system (ABS) and Electronicbrake force distribution (EBFD).3Depending on the geographic coverage of the "eCall (SOS)" and "ASSISTANCE" systems and the official national language chosen by the owner ofthe vehicle. The list of countries covered and the telematic services provided is available from dealers or on the website for your country.Safety855
– Emergency braking assistance (EBA).– Post Collision Safety Brake (PCSB).– Anti-slip regulation (ASR).– Dynamic stability control (DSC).– Trailer stability assist (TSA).Anti-lock braking system(ABS)/Electronic brake forcedistribution (EBFD)These systems enhance the vehicle’s stabilityand handling during braking, and enable greatercontrol while cornering, particularly on poor orslippery road surfaces.ABS prevents wheel locking in the event ofemergency braking.Electronic brake force distribution (EBFD)manages overall braking pressure on eachindividual wheel. When braking in an emergency, depressthe pedal very firmly and maintain thispressure.Normal operation of the ABS may makeitself felt by slight vibrations of the brakepedal. The fixed illumination of this warninglamp signals that there is a fault withthe ABS.The vehicle retains conventional braking. Drivecarefully at a moderate speed.Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or aqualified workshop. This warning lamp, when lit togeth-er with the STOP and ABS warninglamps, accompanied by a messageand an audible signal, indicates anEBFD malfunction. You must stop the vehicle.Stop as soon as it is safe to do so and switch offthe ignition.Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualifiedworkshop. When changing wheels (tyres and rims),ensure that these are approved for yourvehicle. After an impactHave it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer ora qualified workshop.Emergency brakingassistance (EBA)This system reduces the emergency stoppingdistance, by optimising the braking pressure. It is triggered in relation to the speed at whichthe brake pedal is depressed. The effect of thisis a reduction in the resistance of the pedal andan increase in braking efficiency.Post Collision Safety Brake(PCSB)If an accident is detected, the vehicleautomatically initiates a post collision safetybraking. The goal of this system is to reducethe risk of further collisions if the driver does notreact. The system acts on frontal, lateral and rearcollision. The system is not operational if the capabilityof the vehicle to trigger and execute the postcollision safety braking is not available, as it canoccur in destructive accidents or in other specificaccident scenarios. It is possible to override the automatic braking bypressing the accelerator pedal.Operating conditionsThe system operates, if the following conditionsare met:– Airbags or pyrotechnic seat belt pretensionershave been deployed by the collision.– Braking systems and electric functionsremain continuously operational during and aftercollision.– Driver has not depressed the acceleratorpedal.MalfunctionIn the event of amalfunction, one ofthese warning lampswill come on fixed onthe instrument panel, accompanied by theService warning lamp, the display of a messageand an audible signal.Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or aqualified workshop.Safety86
Anti-slip regulation (ASR)/Dynamic stability control(DSC)Anti-slip regulation (or traction control) optimisestraction by using engine braking and by applyingthe brakes on the driving wheels to avoid oneor more wheels spinning. It also enhances thevehicle's directional stability. If there is a difference between the vehicle’strajectory and the path desired by the driver, thedynamic stability control system automaticallyuses engine braking and the brakes on one ormore wheels to return the vehicle to the desiredpath, within the limits of the laws of physics. These systems are activated automatically everytime the vehicle is started. These systems are activated in theevent of a problem with grip or trajec-tory (confirmed by this warning lampflashing on the instrument panel).Deactivation/ReactivationIn exceptional conditions (e.g. moving a vehiclethat is bogged down in mud, stuck in snow, onloose soil), it may prove useful to deactivate theDSC/ASR systems, so that the wheels can movefreely and regain grip.Reactivate the system as soon as the level ofgrip permits. The ASR system is deactivated/ re-activated in the ADAS touch screenapplication.Deactivation/reactivation of the ASRsystem is indicated by this indicatorlamp on the instrument panel com-ing on/going out and the display of amessage. The ASR system is automatically reactivatedevery time the ignition is switched off or atspeeds over 31 mph (50 km/h) Reactivation ismanual below 31 mph (50 km/h).MalfunctionIn the event of a malfunction, thiswarning lamp lights up on theinstrument panel, accompanied by thedisplay of a message and an audiblesignal.Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or aqualified workshop.ASR/DSCThese systems enhance safety duringnormal driving, but should not encourage thedriver to take extra risks or drive at highspeed. It is in conditions of reduced grip (rain, snow, ice) that the risk of loss of grip increases. Itis therefore important for your safety to keepthese systems activated in all conditions, andparticularly in difficult conditions.Correct operation of these systems dependson compliance with the manufacturer'srecommendations relating to the wheels(tyres and rims), braking and electroniccomponents, as well as the assembly andrepair procedures provided by PEUGEOTdealers. In order to ensure that these systems remaineffective in wintry conditions, the use of snowor all-season tyres is recommended. All fourwheels must be fitted with tyres approved foryour vehicle. All tyre specifications are listed on thetyre/paint label. For more informationon Identification markings, refer to thecorresponding section.Trailer stability assist (TSA)When towing, this system reduces the risk of thevehicle or trailer snaking.OperationThe system is activated automatically when theignition is switched on.The electronic stability control system (ESC)must not have any faults.Safety875
The vehicle speed must be between 37 and 99mph (60 and 160 km/h).If the system detects that the traileris snaking, it applies the brakes tostabilise the trailer and reduces enginepower, if necessary, to slow the vehicle(indicated by the flashing of this warning lampon the instrument panel and the brake lampscoming on).For more information on weights and towedloads, refer to the Engine technical dataand towed loads section or your vehicle’sregistration certificate. To ensure safe driving with a Towing device, refer to the corresponding section.MalfunctionIf a fault occurs, this warning lamplights up on the instrument panel, ac-companied by a message and an au-dible signal. To continue towing a trailer, reduce speed anddrive carefully! Have it checked by a PEUGEOTdealer or a qualified workshop. The trailer stability control system providesan extra safety feature under normaldriving conditions, when following therecommendations for use of trailers andcurrent legislation in force in your country. Itmust not encourage the driver to take extrarisks, such as using a trailer in unsuitableconditions of operation (e.g. excessive load, exceeded nose weight, worn or under-inflatedtyres, faulty braking system) or driving atexcessive speed. In certain cases, the system may not detecttrailer snaking, particularly with a light trailer. When driving on slippery or poor surfaces, the system may not be able to preventsudden trailer snaking.Advanced Grip ControlThis special patented traction control systemimproves grip on snow, mud and sand. For optimum grip on snow, the vehicle isequipped with winter tyres (3PMSF) or 4-season tyres (M+S), depending on country ofsale.Activation/DeactivationPress the DRIVE MODE button; the variousmodes are displayed on the touch screen.Select "Snow", "Mud" or "Sand" dependingon the context on the right side of thewindow.Close the window by clicking the cross. The chosen mode continues to be displayed inthe instrument panel. To deactivate, select "Normal" mode or anyother driving mode. The system is automatically deactivated whenthe ignition is switched off.Operating modesSnowThis mode constantly adapts the level of wheelspin to offer maximum traction according tothe snow conditions (a lot of wheel spin inthick snow; very little on ice). The wheel spinis also adapted to the conditions encounteredwhendriving uphill by optimising the accelerationSafety88
of the vehicle.(mode active up to 50 mph (80km/h))MudThis mode, when moving off, allowsconsiderable spin on the wheel with the leastgrip to optimise clearing of the mud and to regaingrip. At the same time, the wheel with the mostgrip is controlled in such a way as to transmit asmuch traction torque as possible. When moving, the system optimises wheel spinto respond to the driver's requirements as fullyas possible.(mode active up to 31 mph (50 km/h))SandThis mode allows little spin on the two drivingwheels at the same time to allow the vehicle tomove forward and limit the risks of getting stuckin the sand.(mode active up to 75 mph (120 km/h))Do not use the other modes on sand asthe vehicle may become stuck.RecommendationsThe vehicle is designed principally to driveon tarmac roads, but it may occassionallydrive on other less passable terrain. However, it does not permit off-road driving:– Driving on terrain that can damage theunderbody or tear off elements (e.g. fuelpipe, fuel cooler) by obstacles or stones inparticular.– Driving on terrain with steep gradients andpoor grip.– Crossing a waterway.Hill Assist DescentControlHill Assist Descent Control system for medium tosteep slopes, on tarmac or other road surfaces(e.g. gravel, mud). This system reduces the risk of slip or loss ofcontrol of the vehicle when descending, whethergoing forward or in reverse.During a descent, the system assists the driverin maintaining a constant speed, depending onthe gear engaged, while progressively releasingthe brakes. For the system to activate, the gradientmust be greater than 5%.The system can be used with the gearselector at N, D or R .The system is no longer available if thespeed of the vehicle is:– above 43 mph (70 km/h).– managed by the Adaptive cruise controlfunction.Activation/DeactivationBy default, the system is not selected. The state of the system is not saved when theignition is switched off.The driver can also select the system whenthe engine is running or when the vehicle isstationary. To select the system, at speeds below 31 mph(50 km/h):Press this button; a window is displayed onthe touchscreen.Click "Hill Assist Descent Control" buttonto activate/deactivate.The system is activated when thisindicator lamp appears in grey onthe instrument panel. The system becomes active atspeeds below 19 mph (30 km/h);this indicator lamp lights up ingreen on the instrument panel. When the vehicle begins its descent, thedriver can release the accelerator and brakepedals; the system regulates the speed:– If the gearbox is in first or secondgear, 5 the speed decreases and theindicator lamp flashes rapidly.– If the gearbox is in neutral, the speeddecreases and the indicator lamp flashes slowly;Safety895
in this case, the maintained descent speed islower.Activation of the system may cause noisein the transmission. This is perfectlynormal and has no consequence on thebehaviour of the vehicle. On a downward slope, with the vehiclestationary, if the driver releases the acceleratorand brake pedals, the system will release thebrakes to set the vehicle gradually in motion. The brake lamps light up automatically when thesystem is regulating. If the speed exceeds 19 mph (30 km/h),regulation is paused automatically, the indicatorlamp goes back to grey in the instrument panel.Regulation resumes automatically when thespeed falls below 19 mph (30 km/h) again, if theslope and pedal release conditions are met.The driver can depress the accelerator or brakepedal again at any time.MalfunctionIn the event of a malfunction, thiswarning lamp comes on in green onthe instrument panel, accompaniedby the display of a message.Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or aqualified workshop.Seat beltsInertia reelThe seat belts are equipped with an inertiareel which allows the strap length to adjustautomatically to the shape of the user. The seatbelt returns to its storage automatically when it isnot used. The inertia reels are fitted with a device whichautomatically locks the strap in the event of acollision, emergency braking or if the vehiclerolls over. It can be released by pulling the strapfirmly and then releasing it so that it reels inslightly.Pyrotechnic pretensioningThis system improves safety in the event of afrontal or side impact.Depending on the severity of the impact, the pyrotechnic pretensioning system instantlytightens the seat belts against the body of theoccupants. The pyrotechnic pretensioning seat belts areenabled when the ignition is on.Force limiting systemThis system reduces the pressure of the seatbelt on the chest of the occupant, thus improvingtheir protection.Progressive force limiting systemThis system reduces the pressure of the seatbelt on the chest of the occupant, takingtheir stature into account, thus improving theirprotection. In the event of an impactDepending on the nature and seriousnessof the impacts, the pyrotechnic device maytrigger before and independently of airbagdeployment. Deployment of the pretensionersis accompanied by a slight discharge ofharmless smoke and a noise, due tothe activation of the pyrotechnic cartridgeincorporated in the system. In all cases, the airbag warning lamp comeson.Following an impact, have the seat beltsystem checked, and if necessary replaced,by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualifiedworkshop.Front seat beltsEach of the front seats has a three-point seatbelt with inertia reel. The front seat belts are fitted with a pyrotechnicpretensioning system and a progressive forcelimiting system.Safety90Rear seat belts
Each of the rear seats has a three-point seat beltwith inertia reel. The outer seats are fitted with a pyrotechnicpretensioning and force limiting system.FasteningPull the strap, then insert the tongue into thebuckle.Check that the seat belt is fastened correctlyby pulling on the strap.UnfasteningPress the red button on the buckle.Guide the seat belt as it is reeled in.Third row seatbeltsThird row seatbelts are always visible and fixed.Seat belt not fastened/unfastened alerts1Front left seat belt indicator lamp2Front right seat belt indicator lamp3Second row left seat belt indicator lamp4Second row centre seat belt indicator lamp5Second row right seat belt indicator lamp6Third row left seat belt indicator lamp7Third row right seat belt indicator lampSeat belts not fastened/unfastenedidentification indicator lampsThe red indicator lamps (1 to 5 or 7) on theinstrument panel indicate the location of theseat belts which are not fastened or have beenunfastened. Not fastened/unfastened warning lampIt comes on in red on the instrumentpanel as soon as the system detectsthat a seat belt is not fastened or hasbeen unfastened.Safety915In this case, the vehicle symbol containing thebelt indicator lamps for each seat also lights upred.Front seat belt not fastened alertWhen the ignition is switchedon, if the driver orfront passenger has notfastened their seat belt, thecorresponding indicator lamp (1 or 2) comes onin red. At a speed greater than 12 mph (20km/h), the warning lamp and the correspondingindicator lamp flash red, accompanied by anaudible signal for around 2 minutes. After thistime has elapsed, the indicator lamp remains onfixed in red until the seat belt is fastened.
Second row seat belt not fastened alertWhen the ignition is switched on, ifone of the second row passengershas not fastened their seat belt, thecorresponding indicator lamp (3, 4 or5)comes on in red for 1 minute.Seat belt unfastened alertAfter the ignition is switchedon, if the driver or a passengerunfastens their seat belt, thecorresponding indicator lamp(1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7) comes on in red. Ata speed greater than 12 mph (20 km/h), thewarning lamp and the corresponding indicatorlamp flash, accompanied by an audible signal foraround 2 minutes. After this time has elapsed, the indicator lamp remains on until the seat belthas been fastened again. With the ignition on, if the driver or apassenger fastens their seat belt, thecorresponding indicator lamp (1, 2, 3,4, 5, 6 or 7) comes on in green on theinstrument panel. With the ignition on, if one of the frontor rear passenger seats is detected asbeing unoccupied, the correspondingindicator lamp (2,3, 4, 5, 6 or 7) comeson in grey on the instrument panel. When there are no longer anynot fastened/unfastened alerts, thewarning lamp goes off and the greenor grey indicator lamps remain on foraround 30 seconds, then go off.AdviceThe driver must ensure that passengersuse the seat belts correctly and that theyare all fastened before setting off.Wherever seated in the vehicle, you mustalways fasten the seat belt, even for shortjourneys.Do not invert the seat belt buckles, as theywill not fulfil their role properly. To ensure the proper functioning of the beltbuckles, make sure that there are no foreignbodies present (e.g. a coin) before fastening. Before and after use, ensure that the seat beltis reeled in correctly. After folding or moving a seat or rear benchseat, ensure that the seat belt is positionedand reeled in correctly.InstallationThe lower part of the strap must bepositioned as low as possible over the pelvis. The upper part must be positioned in thehollow of the shoulder. At the front, adjusting the position of theseat belt may require the seat height to beadjusted. In order to be effective, a seat belt must:–be tightened as close to the body aspossible.–be pulled in front of you with a smoothmovement, checking that it is not twisted.–only be used to secure one person.–not show signs of tearing or fraying.–not be changed or modified, in order toavoid affecting its performance.Recommendations for childrenUse a suitable child seat if the passengeris less than 12 years old or shorter than 1.5metres.Never use the same seat belt to secure morethan one child.Never carry a child on your lap.For more information on Child seats, refer tothe corresponding section.Safety92
MaintenanceIn accordance with current safetyregulations, for all work on your vehicle'sseat belts, contact a qualified workshop withthe skills and equipment needed, which aPEUGEOT dealer is able to provide.Have the seat belts checked regularly by aPEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop, particularly if the straps show signs ofdamage.Clean the seat belt straps with soapy water ora textile cleaning product, sold by PEUGEOTdealers.AirbagsThis system is designed to improve the safetyof the occupants of the front seats and the rearouter seats in the event of a violent collision. Theairbags supplement the action of the seat beltsequipped with a force limiting system.Electronic detectors record and analyse thefront and side impacts sustained in the impactdetection zones:–In the event of violent impact, the airbagsdeploy instantly and help better protect theoccupants of the vehicle; immediately after theimpact, the airbags deflate rapidly in order notto hinder the visibility or the possible exit of theoccupants.–In the event of a slight impact, a rear impactand under certain rollover conditions, the airbagsmay not deploy; only the seat belt helps toprotect you in these situations. The seriousness of the impact depends on thenature of the obstacle and the speed of thevehicle at the moment of collision. The airbags do not operate when theignition is switched off. This equipment will only deploy once. If asecond impact occurs (during the same or asubsequent accident), the airbag will not bedeployed again.Impact detection zonesA.Front impact zoneB.Side impact zoneWhen one or more airbags are deployed, the detonation of the pyrotechnic chargeincorporated in the system makes a noiseand releases a small quantity of smoke. This smoke is not harmful, but sensitiveindividuals may experience irritation. The detonation noise associated with thedeployment of one or more airbags mayresult in a slight loss of hearing for a shorttime.Front airbagsThis system protects the driver and frontpassenger in the event of a serious front impact, limiting the risk of head and chest injury. The driver's airbag is fitted in the centre of thesteering wheel; the front passenger airbag isfitted in the dashboard above the glove box.DeploymentThey are deployed, except for the frontpassenger airbag if it is deactivated*4, in theevent of a violent front impact applied to all orpart of front impact zone A.The front airbag inflates between the chest andhead of the front occupant of the vehicle andthe steering wheel, on the driver's side, and thedashboard, on the passenger's side, to cushiontheir forward movement.Lateral airbagsThis system protects the driver and frontpassenger in the event of a serious side impact,4For more information on Deactivating the front passenger airbag, refer to the corresponding section.Safety935
limiting the risk of injury to the chest, betweenthe hip and the shoulder. Each lateral airbag is fitted in the seat backrestframe, on the door side.DeploymentThe lateral airbags are deployed on one side inthe event of a serious side impact applied to allor part of the side impact zone B.The lateral airbag inflates between the chest ofthe vehicle's occupant and the correspondingdoor panel.Curtain airbagsThis system helps provide greater protection forthe driver and passengers (with the exceptionof the rear centre passenger) in the event of aserious side impact, in order to limit the risk ofinjury to the side of the head. Each curtain airbag is built into the pillars andthe upper passenger compartment area.DeploymentIt deploys simultaneously with the correspondinglateral airbag in the event of a serious sideimpact applied to all or part of the side impactzone B.The curtain airbag inflates between thefront and rear occupants of the vehicle and thecorresponding windows.MalfunctionIn the event of a malfunc-tion, these warning lampslight up on the instrumentpanel.Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualifiedworkshop to have the system checked. The airbags may not be deployed in the event ofa serious impact. In the event of a minor impact or bump atthe side of the vehicle or if the vehicle rollsover, the airbags may not be deployed. In the event of a rear or front collision, noneof the lateral airbags are deployed.AdviceFor the airbags to be fully effective, observe the safety recommendationsbelow.Adopt a normal and upright sitting position.Fasten your seat belt and position it correctly.Do not place anything between the occupantsand the airbags (e.g. child, animal, object), donot fix or attach anything near or in the pathof the airbags, as this could cause injurieswhen they are deployed.Never modify the original definition of thevehicle, particularly in the area directly aroundthe airbags.Even if all of the precautions mentionedare observed, a risk of injury or of minorburns to the head, chest or arms cannot beruled out when an airbag is deployed. Thebag inflates almost instantly (within a fewmilliseconds) then deflates within the sametime, discharging the hot gas via openingsprovided for this purpose. After an accident or if the vehicle has beenstolen, have the airbag systems checked. All work must be carried out only by aPEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.Safety94
Front airbagsDo not drive holding the steering wheel byits spokes or resting your hands on the centrepart of the wheel.Passengers must not place their feet on thedashboard.Do not smoke as deployment of the airbagscan cause burns or the risk of injury from acigarette or pipe.Never remove or pierce the steering wheel orhit it violently.Do not fix or attach anything to the steeringwheel or dashboard, as this could causeinjuries when the airbags are deployed.Lateral airbagsUse only approved seat covers compatiblewith the deployment of these airbags. Forinformation on the range of seat coverssuitable for your vehicle, contact a PEUGEOTdealer.Do not fix or attach anything to the seatbackrests (e.g. clothing) as this could causeinjuries to the chest or arm when the airbag isdeployed.Do not sit with the upper part of the body anynearer to the door than necessary. The vehicle's front door panels include sideimpact sensors.A damaged door or any unauthorised orincorrectly executed work (modification orrepair) on the front doors or their interiortrim could compromise the operation of thesesensors - risk of malfunction of the lateralairbags! All work must be carried out only bya PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.Curtain airbagsDo not fix or attach anything to the roof,as this could cause head injuries when thecurtain airbag is deployed.Do not remove the grab handles installed onthe roof.Child seatsThe regulations on carrying children arespecific to each country. Refer to thelegislation in force in your country. For maximum safety, please observe thefollowing recommendations:– In accordance with European regulations, all children under the age of 12 years oldor less than 1.5 metres tall must travel inapproved child seats suited to their sizeor weight, on seats fitted with a seat belt orISOFIX mountings.– Statistically, the safest seats in your vehiclefor carrying children are the rear seats.– Children ageing less than 15 monthsmust travel in the "rearward facing"position, whether in the front or rear of thevehicle. It is recommended that children travel onthe rear seats of the vehicle:– "rearward facing" up to the age of 3 yearsold.– "forward facing" over the age of 3 yearsold.Make sure that the seat belt is correctlypositioned and tightened. For child seats with a support leg, ensure thatthe support leg is in firm and steady contactwith the floor.Safety955
