Owner Manuals

Peugeot 5008 2024- 2025 Owner's Manual Practical information Checks

The oil level indication displayed on theinstrument panel when the ignition isswitched on is not valid for 30 minutesfollowing an addition of oil.Brake fluidThe level of this fluid should be closeto the "MAX" mark. If not, check thebrake pads for wear.To know how often the brake fluid should bereplaced, refer to the manufacturer's servicingschedule.Clean the cap before removing it torefill.Use only DOT4 brake fluid from asealed container.Engine coolantFor petrol, hybrid or rechargeable hybridversionsIt is normal to top up this fluid be-tween two services. The check and top-up must only be done withthe engine cold.A level of coolant that is too low risks causingmajor damage to the engine; the coolant levelmust be close to the "MAX" mark without evergoing above it.If the level is close to or below the "MIN" mark, itis essential to top it up.When the engine is hot, the temperature of thecoolant is regulated by the fan.As the cooling system is pressurised, wait atleast one hour after switching off the enginebefore carrying out any work.In order to avoid the risk of scalding if you needto top up in an emergency, wrap a cloth aroundthe cap and unscrew the cap by two turns toallow the pressure to drop.Once the pressure has dropped, remove the capand top up to the required level. For electric versionsFor electric versionsDo not top up the coolant. If the level is close to or below the"MIN" mark, it is essential to contact aPEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.Screenwash fluidTop up to the required level whennecessary.Fluid specificationThe fluid must be topped up with a pre-mixedproduct.In winter (temperatures below zero), a fluidcontaining an anti-freeze agent which isappropriate for the temperature conditions mustbe used in order to protect the system'scomponents (pump, tank, ducts, jets).Filling with pure water is prohibited in allcircumstances (risk of freezing, limescale,etc.).ChecksUnless otherwise indicated, check thesecomponents in accordance with theManufacturer's service schedule and accordingto your engine.Otherwise, have them checked by a PEUGEOTdealer or a qualified workshop.Only use products recommended byPEUGEOT or products of equivalentquality and specification. In order to optimise the operation ofcomponents as important as those in thebraking system, PEUGEOT selects and offersvery specific products.12 V batteryThe battery does not require anymaintenance.Check regularly that the terminals arecorrectly tightened (versions without quick-release terminals) and that the connections areclean.Practical information1977
For more information on the precautions totake before any work on the 12 V battery, refer to the corresponding section.Versions equipped with Stop & Start arefitted with a 12 V lead-acid battery withspecial technology and specifications. Its replacement should be carried out only bya PEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.Passenger compartmentfilterDepending on the environment andthe use of the vehicle (e.g. dustyatmosphere, city driving), change ittwice as often, if necessary.Air filterDepending on the environment andthe use of the vehicle (e.g. dustyatmosphere, city driving), change ittwice as often, if necessary.Oil filterChange the oil filter each time theengine oil is changed.Automatic gearboxThe gearbox does not require anymaintenance (no oil change).Brake padsBrake wear depends on the styleof driving, particularly in the caseof vehicles used in town, over shortdistances. It may be necessary tohave the condition of the brakes checked, evenbetween vehicle services.Unless there is a leak in the circuit, a drop inthe brake fluid level indicates that the brake padsare worn. After washing the vehicle, moisture, orin wintry conditions, ice can form on thebrake discs and pads: braking efficiency maybe reduced. Gently dab the brakes to dry anddefrost them.Brake disc wearFor any information on checking brakedisc/drum wear, contact a PEUGEOTdealer or a qualified workshop.Electric parking brakeThis system does not require anyroutine servicing. However, in theevent of a problem, do not hesitateto have the system checked by aPEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop. For more information on the Electricparking brake, refer to the correspondingsection.Wheels and tyresThe inflation pressure of all tyres, including the spare wheel, must bechecked on "cold" tyres. The pressuresindicated on the tyre pressure labelare valid for "cold" tyres. If you have driven formore than 10 minutes or more than 6 miles (10kilometres) at over 31 mph (50 km/h), add 0.3bar (30 kPa) to the values indicated on the label.Under-inflation increases energyconsumption. Non-compliant tyrepressures cause tyres to wear prematurelyand have an adverse effect on the vehicle'sroad holding - risk of accident!Driving with worn or damaged tyres reduces thebraking and road holding performance of thevehicle. Regularly check the condition of thetyres (tread and sidewalls) and rims as well asthe presence of the valve caps. When the wear indicators no longer appear setback from the tread, the depth of the grooves isless than 1.6 mm; replace the tyres as soon as 7possible.Using different size wheels and tyres from thosespecified can affect the lifetime of tyres, wheelrotation, ground clearance, the speedometerreading and have an adverse effect on roadholding.Fitting different tyres on the front and rear axlescan cause the ESC to mistime.Practical information198
Always mark the direction of rotation on the tyresthat will be stored when fitting winter or summertyres. Store them in a cool, dry place and awayfrom direct exposure to the sun's rays.Winter or 4-seasons tyres can beidentified by this symbol on theirsidewalls.Shock absorbersIt is not easy for drivers to detectwhen shock absorbers are worn.Nevertheless, the shock absorbershave a major impact on road holdingand braking performance. For your safety and driving comfort, it isimportant to have them regularly checked by aPEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.Timing and accessory kitsThe timing and accessory kits areused from the time the engine isstarted until it is switched off. It isnormal for them to wear over time.A faulty timing or accessory kit can damagethe engine, rendering it unusable. Observe therecommended replacement frequency, stated indistance travelled or time elapsed, whichever isreached first.Free-wheelingIn certain situations, it is necessary to put thevehicle into free-wheeling mode (e.g. towing, ona rolling road, automatic car wash (Wash mode),rail or sea transport).Never leave the vehicle unattended withthe vehicle into free-wheeling mode. When the vehicle is fitted with anautomatic gearbox or a drive selector, itis strongly recommended to stay inside thevehicle when it is in free-wheeling mode.Release procedureWith the vehicle stationaryand the engine running:Depress and hold the brake pedal.Select and hold the mode N on the pushselector.Press the START/STOP button around 1 sto switch off the engine (confirmed by theflashing of the P and N indicator lights).Release the brake pedal to switch on theignition and deactivate the electric parkingbrake.A message is displayed on the instrumentpanel to confirm the unlocking of thewheels for 15 minutes. When the vehicle is free-wheeling, theaudio system cannot be updated (messagedisplayed on the instrument panel). After 15 minutes or reverting to normaloperationWhile depressing the brake pedal, restart theengine and select mode P.Keyless Entry and StartYou must not depress the brake pedalwhile switching the ignition on again, thenswitching it off. If you do, the engine will start, requiring you to restart the procedure.Advice on care andmaintenanceGeneral recommendationsObserve the following recommendations to avoiddamaging the vehicle.ExteriorNever use a high-pressure jet wash in theengine compartment - risk of damagingthe electrical components!Do not wash the vehicle in bright sunshine orextremely cold conditions.Practical information1997
