Peugeot 5008 2024- 2025 Owner's Manual Practical information Checking levels

OpeningOpen the left-hand front door.Pull once the interior release lever, located atthe bottom of the door frame, towards you tounlock the bonnet.Pull twice the interior release lever towardsyou to unlock the safety catch.Raise the bonnet.Unclip the stay from its housing and place itin the support slot to hold the bonnet open.ClosingLower the bonnet and release it near the endof its travel.Check the locking.Because of the presence of electricalequipment under the bonnet, it is stronglyrecommended that exposure to water (rain, washing, etc.) be limited.Engine compartmentThe engine shown here is an example forillustrative purposes only. The locations of the following components mayvary:– Air filter.– Engine oil dipstick.– Engine oil filler cap.Petrol engine1.Screenwash fluid reservoir2.Engine coolant reservoir3.Brake fluid reservoir4.Battery/Fuses5.Remote earth point (-)6.Fusebox7.Air filter8.Engine oil filler cap9.Engine oil dipstickElectric engine1.Screenwash fluid reservoir2.Engine coolant reservoir (level only)3.Brake fluid reservoir4.Battery/Fuses5.Remote earth point (-)6.Fusebox7.400 V electrical circuit8.Emergency circuit-breaker for emergencyservices and maintenance techniciansFor more information on the Charging system(Electric), refer to the corresponding section.Checking levelsCheck all of the following levels regularly inaccordance with the Manufacturer's serviceschedule. Top them up if required, unlessotherwise indicated. If a level drops significantly, have the corresponding system checked by aPEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop. The fluids must comply with theManufacturer's requirements and with thevehicle's engine.Practical information1957Cooling of the engine when stoppedThe engine cooling fan may start afterthe engine has been switched off.Take care with objects or clothing thatcould be caught in the blades of the fan!
Take care when working under the bonnet,as certain areas of the engine may beextremely hot (risk of burns) and the coolingfan could start at any time (even with theignition off).Used productsAvoid prolonged contact of used oil orfluids with the skin. Most of these fluids are harmful to health andvery corrosive.Do not discard used oil or fluids intosewers or onto the ground.Empty used oil into the containers reservedfor this purpose at a PEUGEOT dealer or aqualified workshop.Engine oilThe level is checked, with the enginehaving been switched off for at least30 minutes and on level ground, eitherusing the oil level indicator in theinstrument panel when the ignition is switchedon (for vehicles equipped with an electricgauge), or using the dipstick. It is normal to top up the oil level between twoservices (or oil changes). It is recommended thatyou check the level, and top up if necessary, every 3,000 miles (5,000 km).In order to maintain the reliability of theengine and emissions control system, never use additives in the engine oil.Checking using the dipstickFor the location of the dipstick, please referto the illustration of the corresponding enginecompartment.Grasp the dipstick by its coloured grip andpull it out completely.Wipe the end of the dipstick using a clean,lint-free cloth.Reinsert the dipstick and push fully down, then pull it out again to visually check the oillevel: the correct level is between marks A(max) and B (min).Do not start the engine if the level is:– above mark A: contact a PEUGEOT dealer ora qualified workshop.– below mark B: top up the engine oilimmediately.Oil gradeBefore topping up or changing theengine oil, check that the oil is suitablefor your engine and complies with therecommendations in the service schedulesupplied with the vehicle (or availablefrom your PEUGEOT dealer or qualifiedworkshop).Use of non-recommended oil may invalidateyour warranty in the event of engine failure.Topping up the engine oil levelFor the location of the engine oil filler cap, please refer to the corresponding enginecompartment illustration.Never remove the oil filler cap withthe engine running. Risk of burns andsplashes inside the engine compartment.Add oil in small quantities, avoiding any spillson engine components (risk of fire).Wait a few minutes before checking the levelagain using the dipstick.Top up the level if necessary. After checking the level, carefully screw theoil filler cap back on and push the dipstickback into its tube up to the stop. The dipstick must be pushed completely into prevent oil from spilling onto the engine.Risk of fire inside the engine compartment.Practical information196
The oil level indication displayed on theinstrument panel when the ignition isswitched on is not valid for 30 minutesfollowing an addition of oil.Brake fluidThe level of this fluid should be closeto the "MAX" mark. If not, check thebrake pads for wear.To know how often the brake fluid should bereplaced, refer to the manufacturer's servicingschedule.Clean the cap before removing it torefill.Use only DOT4 brake fluid from asealed container.Engine coolantFor petrol, hybrid or rechargeable hybridversionsIt is normal to top up this fluid be-tween two services. The check and top-up must only be done withthe engine cold.A level of coolant that is too low risks causingmajor damage to the engine; the coolant levelmust be close to the "MAX" mark without evergoing above it.If the level is close to or below the "MIN" mark, itis essential to top it up.When the engine is hot, the temperature of thecoolant is regulated by the fan.As the cooling system is pressurised, wait atleast one hour after switching off the enginebefore carrying out any work.In order to avoid the risk of scalding if you needto top up in an emergency, wrap a cloth aroundthe cap and unscrew the cap by two turns toallow the pressure to drop.Once the pressure has dropped, remove the capand top up to the required level. For electric versionsFor electric versionsDo not top up the coolant. If the level is close to or below the"MIN" mark, it is essential to contact aPEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.Screenwash fluidTop up to the required level whennecessary.Fluid specificationThe fluid must be topped up with a pre-mixedproduct.In winter (temperatures below zero), a fluidcontaining an anti-freeze agent which isappropriate for the temperature conditions mustbe used in order to protect the system'scomponents (pump, tank, ducts, jets).Filling with pure water is prohibited in allcircumstances (risk of freezing, limescale,etc.).ChecksUnless otherwise indicated, check thesecomponents in accordance with theManufacturer's service schedule and accordingto your engine.Otherwise, have them checked by a PEUGEOTdealer or a qualified workshop.Only use products recommended byPEUGEOT or products of equivalentquality and specification. In order to optimise the operation ofcomponents as important as those in thebraking system, PEUGEOT selects and offersvery specific products.12 V batteryThe battery does not require anymaintenance.Check regularly that the terminals arecorrectly tightened (versions without quick-release terminals) and that the connections areclean.Practical information1977
