Peugeot 5008 2024- 2025 Owner's Manual Driving Stop & Start (Petrol)

Gear shift indicator(Depending on engine)This system is designed to reduce fuelconsumption by recommending the mostsuitable gear.OperationDepending on the driving situation andthe vehicle's equipment, the system mayrecommend skipping one or more gears.Gear engagement recommendations are notto be considered mandatory. Indeed, theconfiguration of the road, the traffic densityand safety remain determining factors whenchoosing the best gear. Therefore, the driverremains responsible for deciding whether or notto follow the system’s advice. The system cannot be deactivated. The system is only active in mode M of theautomatic gearbox. The information appears on the in-strument panel, in the form of an ar-row and the recommended gear. The system adapts the gear changeinstructions according to the drivingconditions (e.g. slope, load) and driving style(e.g. power demand, acceleration, braking). The system never suggests:– engaging first gear.– engaging reverse gear.Stop & Start (Petrol)The Stop & Start function puts the enginetemporarily into standby - STOP mode - duringphases when the vehicle is stationary (e.g. redlights, traffic jams). The engine automaticallyrestarts - START mode - as soon as the driverindicates the intention of moving off again.Primarily designed for urban use, the functionis intended to reduce fuel consumption andexhaust emissions as well as the noise levelwhen stationary. The function does not affect the functionalities ofthe vehicle, in particular the braking.Deactivation/ReactivationBy default, the function is activated when theignition is switched on.It is configured in the ADAS touchscreen application.orDirect access to the Shortcuts for driving aids. The display of a message on the instrumentpanel confirms the change of state. If the function is deactivated while the engine isin STOP mode, it will restart immediately.Associated indicator lampsFunction activated: engine on stand-by (STOP mode)Function deactivated or malfunctionOpening the bonnetBefore doing anything under the bonnet, deactivate the Stop & Start system to avoidany risk of injury caused by the enginerestarting automatically.Driving on flooded roadsBefore entering into a flooded area, it isstrongly recommended that you deactivatethe Stop & Start system. For more information on Drivingrecommendations, particularly on floodedroads, refer to the corresponding section.OperationMain conditions for operation– The driver’s door must be closed.– The driver's seat belt must be fastened.– The level of charge in the battery must besufficient.– The temperature of the engine must be withinits nominal operating range.– The outside temperature must be between 0°Cand 35°C.Driving122
Putting the engine into standby (STOPmode)The engine automatically enters standby modeas soon as the driver indicates their intention tostop:– With the gear selector set to mode D or withthe button M pressed, when the brake pedal isdepressed until the vehicle stops.– With the gear selector set to mode N, with thevehicle stationary.Time counterA time counter adds up the time spent in standbyduring the journey. It is reset to zero every timethe ignition is switched on.Special casesThe engine will not go into standby if theconditions for operation are not met and in thefollowing cases:– Steep slope (ascending or descending).– Sport mode selected (depending onequipment).– Needed to maintain a comfortable temperaturein the passenger compartment.– Demisting active. In these cases, this indicator lampflashes for a few seconds, then goesoff. After the engine has restarted, STOPmode is not available until the vehicle hasreached a speed of 5 mph (8 km/h).During parking manoeuvres, STOP modeis not available for a few seconds aftercoming out of reverse gear or turning thesteering wheel.Restarting the engine (START mode)The engine automatically restarts as soon as thedriver indicates the intention of moving off again:With a manual gearbox:when the clutch pedalis fully depressed. With an automatic gearbox:– With the selector in mode D or M: when thebrake pedal is released.– With the selector in mode N and the brakepedal released: when the mode D or M isselected.– With the selector in mode P and the brakepedal depressed: when the mode R, N, D or M isselected.– When the reverse gear is engaged.Special casesThe engine will restart automatically if theconditions for operation are met again and in thefollowing cases:– Deselecting the Sport mode (depending onequipment).– Automatic gearbox in mode N, vehicle speedexceeds 0.6 mph (1 km/h).In these cases, this indicator lampflashes for a few seconds, then goesoff.MalfunctionsIn the event of a fault with the sys-tem, this warning lamp flashes for afew moments on the instrument pan-el, then remains on, accompanied bythe display of a message.Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or aqualified workshop. The vehicle stalls in STOP modeAll of the instrument panel warning lamps comeon if there is a fault.Switch off the ignition then start the engineagain with the START/STOP button.12 V batteryThe Stop & Start system requires a12 V battery of specific technology andspecification. All work must be carried out only by aPEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop.e-Auto mode (Hybrid)The petrol engine stops when low power ortorque is required and in stabilised conditions. The petrol engine is restarted by the belt starter. The e-Auto mode can switch off the petrolengine in the following cases:– When the operating strategies permit.– Vehicle speed up to 90 mph (145 km/h).– When the driver releases the accelerator pedalin stabilised conditions or in deceleration.– During the stop phases.Driving1236
