The electronic key must be present in thepassenger compartment.The electronic key is also detected in theboot.If the electronic key is not detected, amessage is displayed.Move the electronic key so that the enginecan be started or switched off.If there is still a problem, refer to the "Keynot detected - Back-up starting or Back-upswitch-off" section.StartingSelect mode P or N on the automaticgearbox, then depress the brake pedal.Press the "START/STOP" button whilemaintaining pressure on the pedal until theengine starts.In all circumstances, if one of the startingconditions is not met, a message is displayed.In some circumstances, a message indicatesthat it is necessary to turn the steering wheelwhile pressing the "START/STOP" button toassist unlocking of the steering column.Petrol enginesAfter a cold start, pre-heating the catalyticconverter can cause noticeable enginevibrations, for anything up to 2 minutes(accelerated idle speed).Hybrid enginesThe vehicle always starts with the petrolengine to ensure the efficiency of the catalyticconverter and the availability of the brakeassist.After a few moments, the petrol engine maystop if the operating conditions allow (stateof charge of the traction battery, externaltemperature, torque demand, selected drivingmode).Starting rechargeablehybrid vehiclesFully depress the brake pedal and pressthe START/STOP button for approximately 2seconds.Keep the foot on the pedal until the READYindicator lamp comes on, indicating theactivation of the rechargeable hybrid system(confirmed by an audible signal).To exit Park mode, wait for the READYindicator lamp to come on.By default, the system starts in Electric mode.Depending on certain parameters (batterycharge level or outside temperature), the systemdetermines whether it is necessary to start thepetrol engine.It is possible to change the driving mode at anytime using the mode selector.When the vehicle starts in electric mode, itmakes no noise.Pay particular attention to pedestrians andcyclists who may not hear the vehicle comingdespite the pedestrian horn.Switching offImmobilise the vehicle using the parkingbrake.Select mode P on the automatic gearbox.Press the START/STOP button.For rechargeable hybrid vehicles, beforeleaving the vehicle, check that the READYindicator lamp is switched off.The automatic gearbox locks in mode P.If the vehicle is not immobilised, theengine will not stop.With the engine off, the braking andsteering assistance systems are also cutoff - risk of loss of control of the vehicle!Never leave your vehicle with theelectronic key still inside.Driving108Starting/switching off theengine

In the event of a fault with the electronickey, contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualifiedworkshop.Emergency switch-offIn case of emergency only, the engine canbe switched off without conditions (even whendriving).Press the START/STOP button for about 5seconds.Electric parking brakeIn automatic mode, this system applies theparking brake when the engine is switched offand releases it when the vehicle moves off.At any time, with the engine running:To apply the parking brake, briefly pull thecontrol.To release it, briefly push the control whilepressing the brake pedal.Automatic mode is activated by default.This automatic operation can be deactivated incertain situations.Indicator lampThis indicator lamp comes on bothon the instrument panel and on thecontrol to confirm that the parkingbrake has been applied, accompaniedby display of the message "Parking brakeapplied".The indicator lamp goes out to confirm therelease of the parking brake, accompanied bythe display of the message "Parking brakereleased".The indicator lamp flashes in response to amanual request to apply or release the brake.In the event of a battery failure, the electricparking brake will not operate.As a safety measure, with an automaticgearbox or drive selector, if the parking brakeis not applied, immobilise the vehicle byplacing the supplied chock against one of thewheels.Contact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualifiedworkshop.Before leaving the vehicle, check that theparking brake is applied: the parking brakeindicator lamps on the instrument panel andthe control must be on fixed.If the parking brake is not applied, there is anaudible signal and a message is displayed onopening the driver's door.Never leave a child alone inside thevehicle, as they could release the parkingbrake.When the vehicle is parked: on a steepslope, heavily loaded or during towingWith an automatic gearbox, turn the wheelstoward the pavement and select mode P.When towing, the vehicle is approved forparking on slopes of up to 12%.When the vehicle is parked on a slope, theelectric parking brake must be applied beforeengaging mode P of the automatic gearboxManual operationManual releaseWith the ignition on or engine running:Press the brake pedal.While maintaining pressure on the brakepedal, briefly push the control.If the brake pedal is not depressed,the parking brake is not released and amessage is displayed.Driving110
