Cruise control - SpecificrecommendationsThe cruise control function does notguarantee compliance with the maximumauthorised speed and the safety distancebetween vehicles, the driver remainsresponsible for their driving. In the interest of public safety, only use cruisecontrol if the traffic conditions enable vehiclesto drive at a steady speed and maintain anadequate safety distance.Remain vigilant while cruise control isactivated. If you press and hold one ofthe speed setting modification buttons, yourvehicle may change speed very abruptly. When descending a steep hill, the cruisecontrol system cannot prevent the vehiclefrom exceeding the set speed. Brake ifnecessary to control the vehicle speed. On steep climbs or when towing, the setspeed may not be reached or maintained.Exceeding the programmed speedsettingYou can temporarily exceed the speedsetting by pressing the accelerator pedal (theprogrammed speed flashes). To return to the speed setting, release theaccelerator pedal (when the set speed isreached again, the displayed speed stopsflashing).Operating limitsNever use the system in the followingsituations:– In an urban area with the risk of pedestrianscrossing the road.– In heavy traffic (except versions with theStop & Go function).– On winding or steep roads.– On slippery or flooded roads.– In poor weather conditions.– In the event of restricted visibility for thedriver.– Driving on a speed circuit.– Driving on a rolling road.– When using a ‘space-saver’ type sparewheel.– When using snow chains or non-slip covers.Cruise controlFor more information, refer to the Generalrecommendations on the use of drivingand manoeuvring aids and the Specificrecommendations on cruise control. This system automatically maintainsthe vehicle’s speed at the value pro-grammed by the driver (speed set-ting), without the use of the accelera-tor pedal.Cruise control is switched on manually. It requires a minimum vehicle speed of 25 mph(40 km/h).With an automatic gearbox, mode D or secondgear or higher in mode M must be engaged. With a drive selector, mode Dor B must beengaged.Cruise control remains active afterchanging gear, regardless of the gearboxtype, on engines fitted with the Stop & Startfunction.Switching off the ignition cancels anyspeed setting.Steering-mounted controls1.Cruise control selection2.Switch on/Pause cruise control at thepreviously saved speed setting3.Increase the speed setting (if cruise controlactivated) Activation of cruise control inprogress (if cruise control deactivated)4.Decrease the speed setting (if cruisecontrol activated) Activation of cruisecontrol in progress (if cruise controldeactivated)Driving134
