Peugeot 5008 2024- 2025 Owner's Manual Driving Hill start assist

Kick-downIn Normal and Eco modes, it is alwayspossible to obtain maximum torque andpower by depressing the accelerator pedalfully.SportEnables more dynamic driving, acting on thepower steering, accelerator and gear changeswith a drive selector and the possibility ofdisplaying the vehicle’s dynamic settings on theinstrument panel.4WD (4-wheel drive)In addition to the driving modes, Normal, Ecoand Sport, some electric vehicles have thisspecial mode.Improves the vehicle's grip at low and moderatespeeds by driving all 4 wheels continuously.4WD mode (4-wheel drive) is especially suitedto driving on snow-covered roads and difficultterrain (e.g. mud, sand) as well as fordcrossings, at moderate speed. If the system does not detect a situation of wheelslipping or poor grip after 300 metres of driving,it switches to Normal mode. This mode will be even more effective ifthe vehicle is fitted with suitable tyres, such as winter tyres. The grip can be improved up to 84 mph (135km/h); above this speed, the vehicle is driven bythe front wheels only.Hill start assistThis system keeps the vehicle briefly stationary(for approximately 2 seconds) when making a hillstart, while you transfer your foot from the brakepedal to the accelerator pedal. The system is only active when:– The vehicle is completely stationary, with yourfoot on the brake pedal.– Certain slope conditions are met.– The driver’s door is closed.Do not leave the vehicle while it is beingheld temporarily by hill start assist. If someone needs to get out of the vehiclewith the engine running, apply the parkingbrake manually. Then check that the parkingbrake indicator lamp and the P indicator lampin the electric parking brake control are onfixed. The hill start assist function cannot bedeactivated. However, using the parkingbrake to immobilise the vehicle interrupts itsoperation.OperationFacing uphill, with the vehicle stationary, thevehicle is held for a short time when thedriver releases the brake pedal:– If mode D, M or B is selected on an automaticgearbox.– If mode D is selected on the drive selector.Facing downhill, with the vehicle stationaryand reverse gear engaged, the vehicle is heldfor a short time when the driver releases thebrake pedal.MalfunctionIf the event of a malfunc-tion, these warning lampslight up on the instrumentpanel, accompanied by thedisplay of a message.Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or aqualified workshop.Driving1216NormalThis optimises the driving range and dynamicperformance.EcoOptimises energy consumption, by reducingthe output of the heating and air conditioning(without actually deactivating them) and limitingboth motor torque and power. For electric versionsEach time the ignition is switched on, Normalmode is selected by default.
Gear shift indicator(Depending on engine)This system is designed to reduce fuelconsumption by recommending the mostsuitable gear.OperationDepending on the driving situation andthe vehicle's equipment, the system mayrecommend skipping one or more gears.Gear engagement recommendations are notto be considered mandatory. Indeed, theconfiguration of the road, the traffic densityand safety remain determining factors whenchoosing the best gear. Therefore, the driverremains responsible for deciding whether or notto follow the system’s advice. The system cannot be deactivated. The system is only active in mode M of theautomatic gearbox. The information appears on the in-strument panel, in the form of an ar-row and the recommended gear. The system adapts the gear changeinstructions according to the drivingconditions (e.g. slope, load) and driving style(e.g. power demand, acceleration, braking). The system never suggests:– engaging first gear.– engaging reverse gear.Stop & Start (Petrol)The Stop & Start function puts the enginetemporarily into standby - STOP mode - duringphases when the vehicle is stationary (e.g. redlights, traffic jams). The engine automaticallyrestarts - START mode - as soon as the driverindicates the intention of moving off again.Primarily designed for urban use, the functionis intended to reduce fuel consumption andexhaust emissions as well as the noise levelwhen stationary. The function does not affect the functionalities ofthe vehicle, in particular the braking.Deactivation/ReactivationBy default, the function is activated when theignition is switched on.It is configured in the ADAS touchscreen application.orDirect access to the Shortcuts for driving aids. The display of a message on the instrumentpanel confirms the change of state. If the function is deactivated while the engine isin STOP mode, it will restart immediately.Associated indicator lampsFunction activated: engine on stand-by (STOP mode)Function deactivated or malfunctionOpening the bonnetBefore doing anything under the bonnet, deactivate the Stop & Start system to avoidany risk of injury caused by the enginerestarting automatically.Driving on flooded roadsBefore entering into a flooded area, it isstrongly recommended that you deactivatethe Stop & Start system. For more information on Drivingrecommendations, particularly on floodedroads, refer to the corresponding section.OperationMain conditions for operation– The driver’s door must be closed.– The driver's seat belt must be fastened.– The level of charge in the battery must besufficient.– The temperature of the engine must be withinits nominal operating range.– The outside temperature must be between 0°Cand 35°C.Driving122
