Peugeot 5008 2024- 2025 Owner's Manual Driving Driving modes

Regenerative brakingWith the Brake level function and whendeceleratingThe Brake level function emulates enginebraking with three deceleration levels, slowingthe vehicle with no need to depress the brakepedal. The vehicle slows more quickly when thedriver releases the accelerator pedal. The energy recovered when the acceleratorpedal is released is then used to partiallyrecharge the traction battery, thereby increasingthe vehicle's driving range. The resulting deceleration of the vehicledoes not cause the brake lamps to comeon. From mode D, use the control paddles todecrease or increase the deceleration. For each level of deceleration, the informationappears on the dashboard in the form of one ormany more "down" arrows close to D.The deceleration level is not saved when theignition is switched off.If the function does not work, a message isdisplayed on the dashboard. In some situations (e.g. battery full, extreme temperatures), the amount ofregenerative braking may be temporarilylimited, resulting in less deceleration. The driver must remain alert to trafficconditions and must always be ready to usethe brake pedal. With the brake pedalWhen the brake pedal is depressed, theintelligent braking system automatically recoverssome of the energy and uses it to recharge thetraction battery. This energy recovery also reduces use of thebrake pads, thereby limiting their wear. The driver may experience a differentsensation when depressing the brakepedal compared to a vehicle withoutregenerative braking.Driving modesThe driving modes available depend on theengine and equipment of the vehicle.Driving modes are selected using the followingcontrol:Press the control to display the modes on thetouch screen.Select the desired driving mode on the leftside of the window.Close the window by clicking the cross. With an electric vehicle, when starting thevehicle, no mode can be selected until theREADY indicator lamp is displayed. When the message disappears, the selectedmode is activated and remains indicated on theinstrument panel (except Normal mode). The selected mode is activated immediately. With the Advanced Grip Control system, additional driving modes are available. For more information on Advanced GripControl, refer to the corresponding section.Driving1196
EcoTo reduce energy consumption by reducing theperformance of the heating and air conditioning, without deactivating them.SportWith an automatic gearbox: to obtain moredynamic driving with action on the powersteering, accelerator, gear changes, displayingthe vehicle’s dynamic settings on the instrumentpanel (depending on version) and activation/deactivation of the display colour (depending onversion). The selection of the Sport mode deactivates theStop & Start function / e-Auto mode.Coasting mode (Petrol)Depending on version and engine, withthe gear selector in mode D, in Eco andNormal modes, gradually and fully releasingthe accelerator pedal allows free-wheelingwhich can save fuel.A drop in engine speed is normal (rev counterat idle, drop in engine noise). For rechargeable hybridversionsWhenever the ignition is switched on, Electricdriving mode is selected by default.ElectricAllows driving using 100% electrical energy. The maximum speed is approximately 84 mph(135 km/h).When starting the vehicle, if the conditions donot allow the activation or retention of Electricmode, the message "Electric mode currentlyunavailable" is displayed on the instrumentpanel. The vehicle automatically changes toHybrid mode.Conditions of activation– Adequate battery charge level. Chargingthe vehicle after each drive is thereforerecommended. Electric mode is available aslong as there is power left in the battery.– Outside temperature between approximately-5°C and 45°C.Manually exiting the modeFully depress the accelerator pedal, orSelect another mode.In case of non-use of the vehicle for a longperiod (several months), a restart of thepetrol engine may occur even if the battery ischarged. In the event of multiple starts of theinternal combustion engine without asufficient rise in temperature, Electric modemay be temporarily unavailable (naturalphenomenon of dilution of fuel in oil). The message "Electric mode unavailable:automatic operation in progress" thenappears on the instrument panel. To regain normal electrical operation, driveapproximately 50 miles (80 km) in "motorway"conditions or approximately 125 miles (200km) in urban conditions. This phenomenon does not cause anymechanical or electrical damage. It can occurseveral times in the life of the vehicle.HybridTo optimise the vehicle's fuel consumption bymanaging the alternating or simultaneousoperation of the two types of engine, depending on driving conditions and drivingstyle. In Hybrid mode, it is possible to drive in100% electric mode if the battery charge levelis sufficient and acceleration requirements aremoderate.SportTo obtain more dynamic driving in order tobenefit from the maximum performance of thevehicle.Electric power is used to supplement the petrolengine as long as there is energy left in thebattery.Driving120For petrol/hybrid versionsWhenever the ignition is switched on, Normaldriving mode is selected by default.NormalTo restore the default settings.
Kick-downIn Normal and Eco modes, it is alwayspossible to obtain maximum torque andpower by depressing the accelerator pedalfully.SportEnables more dynamic driving, acting on thepower steering, accelerator and gear changeswith a drive selector and the possibility ofdisplaying the vehicle’s dynamic settings on theinstrument panel.4WD (4-wheel drive)In addition to the driving modes, Normal, Ecoand Sport, some electric vehicles have thisspecial mode.Improves the vehicle's grip at low and moderatespeeds by driving all 4 wheels continuously.4WD mode (4-wheel drive) is especially suitedto driving on snow-covered roads and difficultterrain (e.g. mud, sand) as well as fordcrossings, at moderate speed. If the system does not detect a situation of wheelslipping or poor grip after 300 metres of driving,it switches to Normal mode. This mode will be even more effective ifthe vehicle is fitted with suitable tyres, such as winter tyres. The grip can be improved up to 84 mph (135km/h); above this speed, the vehicle is driven bythe front wheels only.Hill start assistThis system keeps the vehicle briefly stationary(for approximately 2 seconds) when making a hillstart, while you transfer your foot from the brakepedal to the accelerator pedal. The system is only active when:– The vehicle is completely stationary, with yourfoot on the brake pedal.– Certain slope conditions are met.– The driver’s door is closed.Do not leave the vehicle while it is beingheld temporarily by hill start assist. If someone needs to get out of the vehiclewith the engine running, apply the parkingbrake manually. Then check that the parkingbrake indicator lamp and the P indicator lampin the electric parking brake control are onfixed. The hill start assist function cannot bedeactivated. However, using the parkingbrake to immobilise the vehicle interrupts itsoperation.OperationFacing uphill, with the vehicle stationary, thevehicle is held for a short time when thedriver releases the brake pedal:– If mode D, M or B is selected on an automaticgearbox.– If mode D is selected on the drive selector.Facing downhill, with the vehicle stationaryand reverse gear engaged, the vehicle is heldfor a short time when the driver releases thebrake pedal.MalfunctionIf the event of a malfunc-tion, these warning lampslight up on the instrumentpanel, accompanied by thedisplay of a message.Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or aqualified workshop.Driving1216NormalThis optimises the driving range and dynamicperformance.EcoOptimises energy consumption, by reducingthe output of the heating and air conditioning(without actually deactivating them) and limitingboth motor torque and power. For electric versionsEach time the ignition is switched on, Normalmode is selected by default.
