Fitting the towballBelow the rear bumper, remove theprotective plug 2 from the carrier 1.Check that the mechanism is unlocked(position B).Insert the end of the towball 5 into the carrier1 and push it upwards; it will lock into positionautomatically.The handle 6 tilts upwards; take care to keepyour hands clear!Check that the mechanism has correctlylocked into place (position A).Close the lock 8 using the key.Remove the key. The key cannot be removedwhile the lock is open.Clip the cap 7 onto the lock.Remove the protective cover from thetowball.Practical information190During useNever release the locking system with atrailer or load carrier on the towball.Never exceed the maximum authorisedweight for the vehicle - the Gross TrainWeight or GTW.Always comply with the maximum authorisedload on the towing device: if it is exceeded,this device may become detached from thevehicle - risk of an accident! Removing the towballGrasp the trailer's plug, perform a quarterturn and pull to disconnect it from theconnection socket 3 on the carrier.Tilt the connection socket 3 to the topposition to stow it away.Detach the trailer's safety cable from thesafety eye 4 on the carrier.Unhitch the trailer from the towball.Replace the protective cover over thetowball.Remove the cap 7 from the lock.Insert the key into the lock 8.Open the lock using the key.Hold the towball 5 firmly in one hand; usingthe other hand, press and hold the pin 7; donot release the pin.The handle 6 tilts downwards; take care to keepyour hands clear!Never use the foot to force the unlocking/locking handle - risk of breakage!Extract the towball from the base of its carrier1.Release the pin; it automatically locks in theunlocked position (position B).Practical information1917Attach the trailer to the towball.Attach the cable on the trailer to the safetyeye 4 on the carrier.Lower the connection socket 3 to put it inposition.Insert the trailer plug and rotate it by aquarter turn to connect it to the connectionsocket 3 on the carrier.
The towball is attached to boot ring with strap.2 strap loops are made around the towball andthen put into the ring.MaintenanceCorrect operation is only possible if the towballand its carrier are kept clean.Before cleaning the vehicle with a high-pressurejet wash, the towball must be removed and theprotective plug fitted to the carrier.Work on the towing deviceContact a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualifiedworkshop.Roof barsAs a safety measure and to avoiddamaging the roof, it is essential touse transverse roof bars approved for yourvehicle.Observe the instructions on fitting and usecontained in the guide supplied with the roofbars.Maximum load distributed over thetransverse roof bars, for a loading heightnot exceeding 40 cm (except bicycle carrier):80 kg.As this value may change, please verify themaximum load quoted in the guide suppliedwith the roof bars.If the height exceeds 40 cm, adapt the speedof the vehicle to the profile of the road toavoid damaging the roof bars and the fixingson the vehicle.Be sure to refer to national legislation in orderto comply with the regulations for transportingobjects that are longer than the vehicle.Direct fitting on roofThe transverse bars must only be fixed at thefour anchorage points located on the roof frame.These points are concealed by the vehicle doorswhen the doors are closed.The roof bar fixings have a stud which mustbe inserted into the opening of each anchoragepoint.RecommendationsDistribute the load uniformly, taking care toavoid overloading one of the sides.Arrange the heaviest part of the load as closeas possible to the roof.Secure the load firmly.Drive gently: the vehicle will be moresusceptible to the effects of side winds andits stability may be affected.Regularly check the security and tightfastening of the roof bars, at least beforeeach trip.Remove the roof bars once they are nolonger needed.Practical information192Replace the protective plug 2 into the carrier1.Stow the towball in its bag to protect it fromknocks and dirt.StorageThis procedure should be considered forversions without dedicated storage in the boot.
