Peugeot 3008 2024-2025 Driving Active Safety Brake with Collision Risk Alert and Intelligent emergency braking assistance

(orange)“Lane change interrupted: Stayin the lane”The system cannot manage the current drivingsituation.Brake, accelerate or use the steering wheel, depending on the context.(blue)"Lane change cancelled" Con-tinuation of the systems: Lanepositioning assist and Adaptivecruise control.orInterruption at the initiative of the driver.(red)"Take control" The system can-not manage the current drivingsituation.Brake, accelerate or use the steering wheel, depending on the context.Operating limitsOperating limits The system should only be usedon driving lane. The system may not work in the followingsituations:– Wearing thick gloves.– Poor visibility (insufficient road lighting, snowfall, rain, fog).– Dazzle (headlamps of an oncoming vehicle, low sun, reflections on a wet road surface, leaving a tunnel, alternating light and shade).– Windscreen area in front of the cameradirty, misted up, frost-covered, snow-covered,damaged or covered by a sticker.– Lane markings eroded, partially hidden (snow, mud) or multiple (roadworks, surface joints).– Travelling in a tight bend.– Winding roads.– Road surface repairs. The system must not be activated in thefollowing situations:– When changing a wheel or working near awheel.– Towing or with a bicycle carrier on a towingdevice, especially with trailer not plugged inor not approved.– Adverse weather conditions.– Road with low grip (risk of aquaplaning, snow, ice).– Unusual configuration such as road worksareas, toll areas and emergency lanes.– Driving on racing circuits.– Driving on a rolling road.If the system detects that the driver isnot holding the wheel firmly enough, ittriggers a series of gradual alerts and thendeactivates itself if there is no response fromthe driver.MalfunctionIn the event of a malfunction, thiswarning lamp lights up on the instru-ment panel, accompanied by the dis-play of a message and an audiblesignal.Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or a qualifiedworkshop.Active Safety Brakewith Collision Risk Alertand Intelligent emergencybraking assistanceFor more information, refer to the Generalrecommendations on the use of drivingand manoeuvring aids. This system:– warns the driver that their vehicle is at risk ofcollision with the preceding vehicle, a pedestrianor a cyclist.– reduces the vehicle's speed to avoid a collisionor to limit its severity. The system also takes motorcyclists intoaccount. It may also react on animals. Animals(especially animals smaller than 0.5 m) andobjects on the road are not necessarilydetected. This system includes three functions:– Collision Risk Alert.– Intelligent emergency braking assistance(iEBA).Driving148
– Active Safety Brake (automatic emergencybraking). The vehicle has a multifunction camera locatedat the top of the windscreen and, depending onversion, a radar located in the front bumper. This system does not replace the need fordriver vigilance. This system is designed to assist the driverand improve road safety. It is the driver's responsibility to continuouslymonitor traffic conditions in accordance withapplicable driving regulations. As soon as the system detects a potentialcollision, it prepares the braking circuit. This may cause a slight noise and a slightsensation of deceleration.Operating conditions andlimitsBrake system operational.ASR system activated.Seat belts fastened for all passengers.Stabilised speed on roads with no or lowcurvature. This warning lamp lights up on theinstrument panel without any addi-tional message, to indicate that theautomatic braking system is notavailable. This is a normal behavior indicating that acondition is not fulfilled and which does notrequest the support of a workshop. In any situations with ignition on whereautomatic braking presents a risk, deactivatingthe system via the driving aids touch screenapplication is recommended, for instance:– Carrying long objects on roof bars.– Using an automatic car wash.– Performing any maintenance (e.g. changing awheel, working inside the engine compartment).– Placing the vehicle on a rolling bench in aworkshop.– Towing the vehicle.– Following a damage of the windscreen close tothe detection camera. The system is automatically deactivated if:– A spare wheel with a too small diameteris detected.– A fault with the brake pedal switch or withthe right or left brake lamp is detected.– A fault in the sensors, in the electronic or inthe brake system is detected.– A trailer is detected by the equipped vehiclehitch (with an electrical connection plug).– A severe crash (e.g. with airbagdeployment) is detected. The system performance may be degraded ornot available by:– Sensor covered with snow, ice, slush, mud ordirt.– Windscreen damaged or smeared, with blurredview or covered with foreign items (e.g. stickers).– Damaged front bumper (or deformed inthe past) or covered with foreign items (e.g.stickers).– Front camera out of regular position or missingcover.– Brake discs cooling process is on-going.– In curves.– System initialization process after batterydisconnection.– Sun or lights shining into the front camera lens.– Adverse environmental conditions (e.g. rain, fog or snow).– Vehicle ahead creating road spray. The system performance may be affected by:– Vehicle stability system in progress.– Vehicle battery voltage out of range.– Wet road reflecting lights.– Close vehicles ahead.– Tractors, muddy vehicles or vehicles with atrailer.– Banked roads.– Winding or hilly roads.– Poor lighting conditions.– Sudden lighting changes.– Vehicle modifications (e.g. tyres). In case the detection is degraded ortemporarily unavailable by environmentconditions, then a driver indication is notdisplayed (because a driver action is notrequested).Driving1496
– Tractors, muddy vehicles or vehicles with atrailer.– Banked roads.– Winding or hilly roads.– Poor lighting conditions.– Sudden lighting changes.– Vehicle modifications (e.g. tyres). In case the detection is degraded ortemporarily unavailable by environmentconditions, then a driver indication is notdisplayed (because a driver action is notrequested). It can be dangerous to drive if the brakelamps are not in perfect working order. The driver must not overload the vehicle(keep within the GVW and GTW limits andload height limits for roof bars).Collision Risk AlertThis function warns the driver if there is a riskof collision with the preceding vehicle, or with apedestrian or cyclist.Modifying the alert trigger thresholdThe trigger threshold determines the sensitivitywith which the function warns of the risk ofcollision. In the ADAS touch screen ap-plication, select Functions>Au-tomatic Braking System.Select one of the 3 preset thresholds: "Far","Medium" or "Near".The selected threshold is memorised when theignition is switched off.OperationDepending on the collision risk detected by thesystem and the alert trigger threshold chosenby the driver, different levels of alert may betriggered and displayed on the instrument panel. The system takes into account the vehicledynamics, the difference speed of the ownvehicle and the object identified for the collisionrisk, and the operation of the vehicle (e.g.actions on the pedals, steering wheel) to triggerthe alert at the most relevant moment.(orange)Level 1: visual alert only, warningthat the preceding vehicle is veryclose. The message "Vehicle close" isdisplayed.(red)Level 2: visual and audible alert, warning that a collision is immi-nent.The message "Brake!" is dis-played.Level 3: a micro-braking may be given, confirming the risk of collision (optional). While approaching a vehicle too quickly, the level 2 alert may be displayed directly.Important: the level 1 alert depends on thetrigger threshold selected. It reacts only onmoving vehicles. It is disabled automaticallyat lower speed. It is possible that collision warnings arenot given, are given too late or seemunjustified. The driver must always stay in control of thevehicle and be prepared to react at any timeto avoid an accident. If you select "Far" in the touch screen, then the system warns sooner. Thisincreases the safety but increases also theamount of alerts, if the legal safety distance isnot kept.To reduce the alert occurrence, you canchange the setting to either of the other two.Intelligent emergencybraking assistance (iEBA)This function increases vehicle deceleration ifthe driver does not brake enough to avoid acollision. This assistance is only provided if the driverpresses the brake pedal.Driving150
Active Safety BrakeThis function, also called "automatic emergencybraking", intervenes after the acoustic alert if thedriver does not operate the brake pedal quicklyenough. The system aims at reducing the speed ofimpact or avoiding a collision if the driver failsto react.Below a speed of 30 mph (50 km/h),automatic emergency braking may slowdown the vehicle to a complete stop.Automatic emergency braking may reducethe speed by a maximum of 30 mph (50km/h) speed.OperationThe system operates subject to the followingconditions:– The vehicle's speed is between 5 mph and 50mph (8 km/h and 80 km/h) when a pedestrian, cyclist, or motorcyclist is detected.– The vehicle's speed is between 5 mph and 50mph (8 km/h and 80 km/h), when a stationaryvehicle or motorcyclist is detected.– The vehicle's speed is between 5 mph and87 mph (8 km/h and 140 km/h) when a movingvehicle is detected. This warning lamp flashes (for ap-proximately 10 seconds) as soonas the function applies the vehicle’sbrakes.During the flashing time, the function is notavailable. With an automatic gearbox or drive selector, inthe event of automatic emergency braking, keepthe brake pedal depressed, also after a completestop is reached, to prevent the vehicle fromrolling away. The driver can override the automaticemergency braking at any time bystrongly turning the steering wheel (evasivemanoeuver) and/or by firmly pressing theaccelerator pedal. The brake pedal may feel hard and vibrateslightly while the function is operating. If the vehicle comes to a complete stop, automatic braking is maintained for 1 to 2seconds.Turning scenariosCrossing road with another vehicleThe system may operate when the vehicle isturning and detects another vehicle, on theadjacent lane, approaching from the oppositedirection if:– The corresponding direction indicator isactivated.– Then the vehicle is about to cross the path ofanother vehicle.– The vehicle speed is between 5 and 15 mph (8and 25 km/h).– A collision on the side of the other vehicle isprobable. The system also takes into account motorcyclistsand may react accordingly.Driving1516
Crossing road with a pedestrianThe system may operate when the vehicle isturning left or right and detects a crossingpedestrian if:– The pedestrian is crossing in front of thevehicle.– The pedestrian can clearly be detected by thesensors.– The scenery is detectable by the sensors (e.g.brightness, contrast vs background).– The vehicle speed is between 5 and 15 mph (8and 25 km/h).The system also takes into account cyclists andmay react accordingly.Vehicle crossing the pathThe system may operate when a visible vehicleis crossing your path and if:– The visible vehicle is crossing your path andcan clearly be detected by the sensors.– The visible vehicle speed is below 40 mph (65km/h).– The vehicle speed is below 40 mph (65 km/h).Deactivation/ActivationBy default, the system is automatically activatedat every ignition cycle. It is configured in the ADAS touchscreen application.Deactivation of the system is signal-led by the illumination of this warninglamp, accompanied by the display ofa message in the instrument panel. The system cannot be deactivated above10 km/h.MalfunctionThis warning lamp lights up on theinstrument panel with the message"Audible Warning System fault:Repair needed" if the audible warn-ing system is in failure. The system may be disturbed or unavailable.Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or aqualified workshop. This warning lamp lights up on theinstrument panel with the message"Driving Assistance Sensor blind:Clean sensor, see User Manual" ifthe sensor is masked. This is a normal behavior, which does notrequest the support of a qualified workshop. In this case, stop the vehicle and verify if thefront camera or the front radar is covered by dirt, mud, sand, snow, ice or anything preventing thesensing. The system is operational again after thedetection field has been cleaned. In the event of a malfunction, thiswarning lamp lights up on theinstrument panel, accompanied by thedisplay of a message and an audiblesignal.Have it checked by a PEUGEOT dealer or aqualified workshop. If these warning lampscome on after the enginehas been switched off andthen restarted, contact aPEUGEOT dealer or a qualified workshop tohave the system checked.Driving152
